Shake, Rattle & Roll

-Shake, Rattle and Roll
Thursday, May 28th at 2:30 am +/- 40 miles off the coast of Guanaja, the northern most island of the Bay Islands, an earthquake measuring 7.3 rocked the Bay Islands, the mainland of Honduras reaching into both Guatemala and Belize, with aftershocks of up to 4.5. Although closest to the epicenter is seems even with the largest in over 100 years, the Bay Islands escaped all but unscathed in regard to the affects. There were no injuries, hospital visits and damage to structures very minimal. The mainland of Honduras did have six deaths and the loss of some lower end homes, along with a bridge that collapsed in between LaCeiba and San Pedro Sula which is on the major road between the two. The last quake of size in the Bay Islands was in 1989 and was a 6.9. Being from the Midwest it was my first real experience with this and admit it was a bit scary but thankful that the island fared so well.
